Apr 17, 2018Withers was a native of Ashley County, a resident of Fountain Hill for the past 37 years and a former resident of Tuckerman. She graduated as Valedictorian of the Fountain Hill High School class of 1954 and was a member of the Fountain Hill First Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her parents, Ancy Ervin and Eva Lansdale Pruitt and a brother, Norwood Pruitt.She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bobby Withers of Fountain Hill; a son, Bryan Withers of Conway; three daughters, Sandra Withers Arnold and husband, Lawrence, of North Little Rock, Karen Beavers and husband, Dennis, of Conway and Glynda Withers of Carlsbad, California; 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.Funeral services were at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Willie Thornhill officiating. Burial was in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Paul Huggins, Taylor Withers, Michael Bradshaw, Chandler Odom, Billy Withers and Jimmy Withers. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home.--Boyce Edward Harrod +2 Boyce Edward Harrod, 89, of Hamburg died Friday, April 13, 2018. Harrod was a native of Holly Grove, Arkansas and a former resident of Little Rock and Arkadelphia. He was a 1951 graduate of Henderson State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during Korean Conflict. He worked for Alcoa from 1954 until 1958 and was hired by Witt & Jack Stephens to oversee the building and opening of The Coachmans Inn in Little Rock. He served as City Manager of Arkadelphia from 1966 until 1975. He moved to Hamburg and was a Rice & Soybean Farmer and Manager of Engelkes Farms and Harrod Inc. from 1975 until 2011 and served as Mayor of Hamburg from 1990 until 1998.
